The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has disclosed that the newly redesigned Naira notes would be readily available at the banks for issuance on December 15, 2022.

The CBN Governor who made this disclosure during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Kastina state, dismissed reports that the currency redesign and reintroduced cashless policies were targeted at some group of people or organisations except for the good and development of the Nigerian economy.

Emefiele also used the opportunity to once again advised Nigerians to take their old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes to the banks before January 31, 2023, deadline.

” The CBN deferred the cashless policy severally to prepare and deepen Nigeria’s payments system infrastructure,” he said.
