The Football Association in England has slapped Cristiano Ronaldo with a £50,000 fine and a two-game suspension after knocking an autistic boy’s mobile phone out of his hand.
The 37-year-old was charged with ‘improper and/or violent’ conduct by the FA in the aftermath of the incident, which came after a defeat against Everton in April this year.
Police gave him a caution for slapping Jacob Kelly’s phone out of his hand when he left the pitch at Goodison Park smashing the device and leaving the 14-year-old with a bruised and puffy hand, according to his mum.
Recall, Manchester United had earlier issued a statement, as the club confirmed that they have reached a mutual agreement with Ronaldo to exit the team with immediate effect.
However, the ban would result in the forward being suspended for two games even if he joins another Premier League club. Chelsea and Newcastle have both been linked with a move for the Portugal international, who is currently preparing for his country’s World Cup opener against Ghana on Thursday.
