The crisis rocking the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), may take a wide turn as five governors elected on the platform of the party and some aggrieved party stalwarts are currently meeting in Lagos state.

The New Diplomat gathered that the meeting is currently holding at the Southern Sun hotel, Ikoyi Lagos

Present at the meeting are; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.

PDP stakeholders like Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo, Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River, Bode George, former deputy national chairman, are also at the meeting.

The meeting is coming amid clamor for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, and the structural imbalance in the party.

Addressing newsmen before going into a closed-door meeting, Makinde said the Integrity Group remained the face behind the struggle within the PDP.

He revealed that during the meeting the governors and other stakeholders will review the current state of the party and come out with a resolution.

Makinde said: “We are here this morning to hold a meeting of the Integrity Group within our party, the PDP. We have been of the G5- that is, the five PDP governors. The G5 is all about the Integrity Group.

“You can see us, five serving governors, as the face of this struggle both the leaders and elders of the party that you see here are the people behind those faces.

“We are in the South West to review the situation within our party, to review where we are and to also look at what is going to happen in the coming elections,” he said.
