The 2023 All Progressives Congress, (APC) Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, (SAN) on Saturday, reacted to the claims made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, that the party’s presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, in 2021 asked him to borrow N1billion to run the affairs of the party.

Keyamo in a tweet on his official verified twitter handle, said the PDP which had not yet gotten into power was already contemplating borrowing money to run its affairs, which depicted the hypocrisy of the party.

In his words, “Nigerians should see the same party that complains about the fact that we borrow in some cases to fund infrastructure.

“They have not even won an election, they are suggesting taking loans to run their party! The problem with the PDP is their hypocrisy that stinks to high heavens.

It would be recalled that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, reaffirmed his stance on Ayu’s N1bn bribery allegations.

According to the governor, Ayu collected N1bn and another N100m from a PDP Governor, while noting that the embattled chairman cannot deny any of these claims.

While responding to the N1bn bribery allegations, Ayu debunked Wike’s claim, saying he never collected money from anyone.

He went further to clarify that Atiku had suggested to him to take a N1bn loan from a bank when the party was passing through stormy waters.

His words are, “When we came in, and the party had funding difficulties, the current presidential candidate suggested that the party should take a loan of N1billion from a bank.

“And the owner of that bank was also an influential member of this party. He has left the party now. But when we discussed with him, we discarded the idea”, he said.
