Ahead of the 2023 general election, traditional rulers from the 24 Kingdoms in Urhobo Land, have jointly offered their royal blessings to the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Delta Central Senatorial flagbearer, Chief Ede Dafinone.
Chief Dafinone who paid a consultation visit to the monarchs recently at the palace of the Ohworode of Olomu kingdom, HRM Ogbon Ogoni Oghoro I, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, received the blessings of the Royal Fathers in his quest to become the next Senator to represent the Urhobo nation in the red chamber.
Speaking on behalf of the 24 Urhobo Royal fathers, His Royal Majesty, Ukori the I, Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, described Ede Dafinone as one who has followed the footsteps of his father (late Senator David Dafinone) who, according to the monarchs, worked for the betterment of Urhobo Nation.
The monarchs noted that “we have seen your antecedents and manifesto as one who have followed his father’s footsteps. Therefore, we wish that what you find shall reach you and do not forget to fulfil what you intend to do for Urhobo nation in your manifesto”.
Earlier; the APC Delta Central Senatorial Candidate, Chief Ede Dafinone thanked the 24 Monarchs of Urhobo Nation for giving him the opportunity to present himself and also seek for blessings to clinch the senatorial seat come 2023 general election.
He reeled out his rich manifesto which included his education, experience, entrepreneurial and business acumen and what will constitute his focus for Delta Central in terms of the unity of Urhobo, security, economic and environmental development as well as harnessing the human and material resources that are abound in the Senatorial zone.
Dafinone disclosed that his vision for Urhobo nation is to enable his people create the environment and drive the process of creating an oasis of peace and long-term prosperity and ensure that sound economic opportunities are brought to the district.
“My vision will also encourage the education system to ensure that our children can be empowered to make the best out of their lives and seize the opportunities that will arise when business comes to the district. Encourage those who wish to use our resources and site their businesses here in delta central, to treat the land and resources with respect.
“I believe I am the right person with the right vision, experience and skill set to assure the people of Delta Central with the enabling environment that will bring about the prosperity we deserve. I humbly ask for your support prayers and votes in my quest to serve as the Senator for the Delta Central Senatorial district come 2023.” Dafinone said.
The high point of the consultation was prayers rendered to Chief Ede Dafinone by the Chairman of Traditional Rulers in Urhobo Nation, HRM Ovie of Olomu Kingdom.
