The spokesperson for the Kaduna-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu has been arrested in Egypt.

It was learnt that Mamu was arrested on Tuesday and detained by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia.

He was however only detained for 24 hours and he is being repatriated back to Nigeria.

He is expected to arrive at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano Wednesday afternoon and might be grilled by the officials of Nigerian secret police, Department of State Security (DSS).

While the details of the arrest remains sketchy as of press time, it is no news that Mamu has been negotiating with the bandits who kidnapped scores of people from the Abuja-Kaduna Train.

He has expertise as per brokering deal with the bandits for the release of hostages in exchange for huge ransom sums.
