LaLiga giants Barcelona have celebrated Asisat Oshoala and the other players of club who were nominated for the 2022 20-woman Ballon D’Or award.

Recall the organisers of Ballon D’Or, France Football, unveiled nominees for this year’s award with Oshoala, one of five Barcelona women’s players, making the list.

Celebrating Oshoala and other Barcelona player who were nominated in other categories, the Catalan club wrote on their website: “France Football announced the shortlist this Friday for the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or, and there are plenty of Barça names in the running, as is Gavi for the Kopa Trophy for the best young player in the world.

The Barca players nominated are,  Fridolina Rölfo, Lucy Bronze, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí and Asisat Oshoala all in the running for the women’s prize.

The club’s previous winners of the men’s award have been Luis Suárez (1966), Johan Cruyff (1973 and 1974), Hristo Stoichkov (1994), Rivaldo (1999), Ronaldinho (2005) and Leo Messi (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2019), while Alexia Putellas was the recipient of the women’s award last year.

The winners of this 66th edition of the awards will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on October 17.”
