Spokesperson of the Bola Tinubu presidential Campaign Organisation, and the Minister of state for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has described the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi as a “trojan horse” to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Keyamo, Obi, whose candidacy has continued to excite young Nigerian voters, might collapse structure for his erstwhile boss before the presidential election, in an attempt to jeopardise the chances of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Keyamo who said this during an interview session with Arise TV on Monday, monitored by The New Diplomat also described the Labour Party candidate as a “carpet bagger” outside of the Southeast, adding that he has no structure, though the Labour Party and its supporters have continued to insist that the people are the structure in 2023 in their attempt to fight back the slant.

While admitting that Obi is raising consciousness amongst electorate, Keyamo claimed the presidential candidate outside his region, the Southeast, has no political connection to pull a victory in the forthcoming polls.

In his words, “So, I must admit and I praise what they are doing, they are raising consciousness among the electorate and all that. But like I said in other programmes outside the Southeast Peter Obi is a carpetbagger and we also suspect he might just be a trojan horse to Atiku Abubakar and we want to warn his supporters that he might be leading them to nowhere.”

Speaking further, Keyamo downplayed the possibility of a third force emerging in Obi or Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The spokesperson of Tinubu Campaign said despite the call for a third force in the next presidential election, the battle is going to be between APC and PDP,  of which he expressed confidence that Tinubu of the APC will come out top in the polls.

“I want you to call me a week to elections. I don’t want to release the demography now. We have done our demography,  we are not resting and we are not going to sleep but Asiwaju is far ahead of the other candidates. They (Obi and Kwankwaso) will do well, I praise them for raising consciousness.

“Well, for some areas, yes, you know, for some areas, they(Obi and Kwankwaso) are candidates. I don’t want to run them down. But like I said, we have done our demography and it is between Asiwaju and a distant second Atiku Abubakar,” he added.
