Abuja-based human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju on Tuesday disclosed that he stop supporting the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 general elections after their three hours meetings.

He claimed that Peter Obi told him that he invested billions of Anambra State money into his family business and was still trying to justify it.

Adeyanju who alleged that the former Governor of Anambra State is not a saint but corrupt as other political office holders made this known on his verified Twitter handle in a series of tweets.

The socio-political activist described Obi’s supporters as ‘crazy online fans’ who go about bullying others, especially those who are against Obi’s candidacy. Stressing that Peter Obi is, however, the best candidate among those who have declared, especially with his cutting of cost theory that was not a saint.

Adeyanju tweeted, “The real reason I stopped supporting Peter Obi was after I met him for a 3hrs meeting at his instance of course & he told to me he invested billions of Anambra State funds into his family business. And the man was even trying to justify it. So many other things he said. SMH!”

“I agree that Peter Obi is the best candidate among those who have declared, especially with his cutting of cost theory, but he’s no saint. He’s as corrupt as the others. Investing Anambra’s money into his family business is the height of corruption and abuse of office,” Adeyanju said.

Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based rights activist, had earlier described Peter Obi as a scam, over claims that Obi does not fly private jet.

Adeyanju said contrary to believes, the former Anambra State governor uses private jet a lot.

He was responding to a video of Obi queuing at a Nigerian airport to board a commercial flight.

A Twitter user, @Naija_PR posted the video of Obi with the message: “Peter Obi spotted queuing at the airport, we hope this will continue if he becomes the president.”

Responding, the socio-political commentator, recalled how Obi used a private jet for two months during his presidential campaign with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019.

In a tweet, Adeyanju wrote: “This is a scam. Obi uses PJ all the time. In 2019 during their presidential campaign with Atiku, he used a private jet permanently for 2-months that he paid $600k for.

“Atiku later paid part of the money. He’s still owing the company about $300k. Even recently he still used PJ.”
