Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have stormed the streets of Ikeja, Lagos, commencing its earlier scheduled nationwide protest.
The New Diplomat gathered that the members of the NLC converged at Ikeja under bridge as early as 7am to kickstart the protest in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
To press home their demands, members of the union were seen carrying placards with inscriptions like “Nigeria at 60years of Independence, More Hunger In The Land”; “Stop the looting, tax the rich and subsidise the poor”; “University education should not be for the rich alone the poor deserve education too”; “Let us change the narrative, make our universities one of the best in the world”, among others.
