The governorship candidates of the leading parties in the ongoing Ekiti State gubernatorial election have cast their votes.

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party(SDP), Segun Oni, Chief Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP): and Hon Biodun Oyebanji, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have all voted.

Oni cast his vote at Ward 2, Unit 6 in Ifaki-Ekiti, his hometown. He arrived with his wife, Kemi, at the polling unit at around 10 am.

Addressing journalists after undergoing the voting exercise, Oni alleged that some parties have been engaging in vote buying..

He urged security agents to move quickly to stop this while describing it as a violation of the Electoral Act.

In his words, “I have been told that selling and buying of votes are going on in Ado and Oye. This is not allowed by the law.

“I want security agents to move in and stop those doing that.”

Also, Kolawole after casting his votes commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for making adequate arrangements for the election.

Kolawole made the remarks on Saturday in his home town, Efon-Alaaye in the Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti, shortly after casting his vote.

“So far, so good, I have just finished casting my vote, I think INEC’s preparation for this election is commendable.

“However, I will urge INEC to continue to improve,” Kolawole said.

Also, Oyebanji, the governorship candidate of the APC, shortly after casting his votes expressed confidence that he will win the keenly contested election.

Oyebanji spoke in Ikogosi Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State after voting at Okelele ward 06 unit 003 in the town.

“This is an improvement and my expectation is that I will win . I am happy that there was no case of apathy. The security build up has also been  impressive, so the process has been good and fine.

“I am coming with a change agenda and my manifesto is clear about the changes I am bringing”, he said.
