Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the report that he is planning to defect to another party to contest the senatorial seat of Abia South against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

The Governorship aspirant of Abia State, who debunked the report that he had concluded plans to join the All-Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) noted that he is confident of winning the primary election.

The Senate Minority Leader made the clarification today through his Media Adviser Uchenna Awom.

According to him, the thought of dumping the opposition party has never crossed his mind, describing it as a mere distraction.

He said: “Senator Abaribe is a frontline governorship aspirant of the PDP. It has never crossed his mind to leave the PDP. Anyone insinuating such is a detractor and should be ignored”.

The Senate Minority Leader was elected for a first term in April 2007 and sworn in on May 2007, he earned repeated electoral victories in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
