  • Says Tackling Insecurity, Waning Urhobo Unity, Values, Infrastructural Devt ‘ll Be Top Priority

The Scion of the Dafinone’s dynasty and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Ede Omueya Dafinone, is set to throw his hat into the ring by declaring his intention to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the APC, come 2023.

Dafinone who made this known in the invitation he extended to the people of Delta Central for the ground-breaking Senatorial declaration scheduled for Ughelli on Saturday, April 30, disclosed that his priority as a Senator will be in the area of addressing insecurity and dwindling unity and values amongst Urhobo.

The world renowned Accountant and astute technocrat cum politician, further disclosed that he will devote serious attention to the development of human capital and infrastructure in Delta Central Senatorial District, adding that he is very much abreast with the needs of the Urhobo people.

He said: “In offering myself to represent our people, I’m very mindful of their very high expectations and needs especially in the areas insecurity, waning Urhobo unity and values, human capital and Infrastructural development among others.

“And by the grace of God, I’m bringing my varied experiences and competencies as renowned Accountant, industrialist, boardroom player and technocrat and international citizen amongst others, to improve on the enviable attainments of my forerunners, especially the serving Senator and Deputy President of the Senate Ovie Omo-Agege.”

Dafinone showered encomium on the sterling performances of the incumbent Senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for raising the bar of representation to an unprecedentedlevel by his attainment of the office of the Deputy President of the Senate, adding that the Urhobo nation cannot afford to lower the bar again.

“And now, with the sterling performance of the current Senator, His Excellency Ovie Omo-Agege, who has raised the bar of representation to an unprecedented prestigious office of the Deputy President of Senate, doing our people and our country proud, by serving as the most cerebral DSP ever, it has become incumbent on our dear Urhobo nation never to lower the bar, not at this stage, at least”, he said.

Dafinone whose father, the late enigmatic Senator David Dafinone, was the Deputy Leader of the Nigerian Senate during the NPN Shagari administration, recalled that the Urhobo nation had always sent its best first eleven to the Senate, adding that the list include personalities with high credibility, dignity and resourcefulness who have distinguished themselves.

“You would like to recall that right from the 2nd republic, our great Urhobo nation has been sending some of her best to the SENATE, which included my late father, Senator David Dafinone, Senator Fred Brume, Felix Ibru and Pius Ewherido -all of blessed memory, amongst others who were men of resourcefulness, that diligently served our people, land and country to levels of admiration”, the APC chieftain from Sapele said.

He extended the invitation to all sons and daughters of Urhobo to grace his declaration for the coveted Delta Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the APC scheduled to hold on Saturday April 30, 2022 at the Fiesta Dome near Agbarha junction, Ughelli/Patani Expressway, Ughelli by 11am.
