Following the postponement of the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for electoral positions in the All Progressives Congress (APC), there are indications that the ruling party has now scheduled Tuesday, 26th of April, 2022 as the new date to roll out the forms.

It was gathered that barring any unforeseen circumstances, the ruling party would kickstart the sale of nomination forms for elective position nationwide on Tuesday.

APC had fixed Saturday for the commencement of sale of nomination forms, however, reports emerged yesterday that sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for electoral positions in the party has been postponed.

While the ruling party remains mum on the development, sources privy to the matter said the postponement was due to the failure by the contractor responsible for printing the forms to deliver at the agreed time.

It was also gathered that the party had not yet perfected its procedures for the sale of forms and the primary elections slated to run from May 18 to June 1, 2022.

Meanwhile, following the postponement, it was learnt that APC will begin sales of nomination form on Tuesday.

A source who spoke with the members of the press said the sales of forms for positions of the House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidency will be carried out in Abuja by the party, at designated location, while sale of forms for aspirants vying for the State House of Assembly will be sold in the various states as the party has decided to send this category of forms to each of 36 State headquarters of the party.

“The sales of expression of interest and nomination forms will now start nationwide on Tuesday. The NWC is conscious of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) June 3rd deadline given to all political parties, hence, it was resolved that forms for State Houses of Assembly be sold at the state level. The National Secretariat will dispatch the State House of Assembly forms to the states over the weekend to enable them to start on Tuesday.

“For those aspiring for other positions from House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential, their forms will be sold by the National Secretariat at a designated place to be announced by Monday. The ongoing renovation at the Mohammadu Buhari House necessitated the change in venue of sales,” the source was quoted as saying.

Recall also that The New Diplomat had reported that the APC had fixed the cost of its presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at N100 million.

For governors, the party pegged nomination and expression of interest at N50 million while Senate and House of Representatives aspirants are to pay N20 million and N10 million respectively.

Those for states legislative seats are to pay N2 million for both forms.
