…Says Police, BRT Operators Uncooperative

Mr Pelumi Abegunde, the brother of late BRT passenger, Miss Bamise Ayanwola has invoked God’s vengeance on the killers of his sister and conspirators who were alleged of attempting to sweep evidence in the matter under the carpet.

Pelumi, while speaking during an interview session with the Arise TV on Thursday revealed how some police officers and operators of Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) were allegedly uncooperative in the search for her sister who went missing on the 26th of February, saying the police officers failed to attend to him while he filed a missing case for his sister.

According to him, the police and the BRT Operators consistently rejected his claims even after showing video evidence that Bamise boarded a BRT bus. He added that the authorities never took the case serious until it went viral.

Recal that 22-year-old Bamise has been trending on the social media after she went missing on February 26. She was said to have gone missing after boarding a BRT bus in Lagos state.

Controversies futher emerged after her corpse was found in Ebute Ero area of Lagos.

Speaking on the situation, Pelumi said the police and the BRT Operators he met when his sister went missing were unhelpful in the search for her sister.

He also reiterated the call for justice, saying that if the Lagos State government and all parties involved fail to ensure justice, God will intervene.

He said, “It is undescribable. It is a lackadaisical display from every quarters. From Akinpelu to terminal three, where the video emerged, inside that terminal three this man was telling us that Bamise will return home that she actually gone out to enjoy herself, that there is no case. Then someone said this is not even the right place to go that we should go to their office(BRT), beside LAWMA office.

“On getting there after playing the video, I wrote it down in their schedule there that, a case of a missing sister and I played the video over and over again two security officers were there, they call them CSOs and they debunked it. After watching the video, they confirmed the vehicle is there but they said nobody reported a case of a missing vehicle therefore, there was no incident.

“At that point, I said excuse me, can we get access to the CCTV so that we can know what is happening. And this guy said look at who is asking for a CCTV footage, you have no rights, who the hell are you So, I press further, if you want to see the CCTV, fine go and get a police report, as if he knew I won’t be able to get the police report. He said it is the police report that will give me access to their CCTV. As I was going, he called me back and said let me see the video again, and I played the video over and over again, then he said get out.

“So I quickly went to Mosafejo police station and they said it is not within their jurisdiction that we should go to Ajah, where she boarded the bus. And I said, oh no, we have been to Ajah and they said we should go to where the bus was heading to.”

Also, father of the deceased, Mr Joseph  said he had not been himself since hearing about the demise of his daughter.

Joseph who spoke at his residence in the Olorunishola area of Ipaja-Ayobo, Lagos State said tthe deceased was the last of his 10 children.

The 84-year-old man, who is a pastor called out to the state government to get to the root of the matter, saying that his daughter was murdered.

“It is hard to believe that my daughter is no more. As a man of God, I pray for him(Governor Sanwo-Olu) and other leaders from my altar every day so I want him to help me get justice,” he said.
