The National President of Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF), Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem has expressed deep concern over allegations of corruption levelled against the current Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to promptly investigate the issues.
Kazeem said, the Forum had keenly monitored some unacceptable activities which include “unprofessional conduct, contract/job racketeering, favoritism, administrative bribe, and other forms of bad leadership” under the leadership of the current NSCDC’s boss.
The Forum vouched that “the current regime of Buhari has zero tolerance for all forms of corruptions at any levels of governance” lamented that “to our greatest surprise, the Nigerian Security and Civil defence corps is the corruption hub of Nigeria under the leadership of Audi.
“In less than a year of his headship, he has transferred many professional, patriotic, committed and brave commanders of the corps out of strategic position/commands and replaced them with his puppet, who lacks all the required professional qualities to occupy such sensitive positions.
“With the current insecurity ranging from banditry, cattle rustling and all other forms of insecurity confronting us as a nation, the NSCDC are expected to support the armed forces, the Nigerian police and other sisters security outfit in tackling crime rate, terrorism and fight against theft of our crude oils and other national assets,” he added.
To this end, he said the Forum frowns at what it called “CG’s only interest of deployment of officer’s loyal to him and not the nation”, a decision which he described as “scandal and unacceptable at any rate”.
Speaking further, Kazeem said “the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is on a mission to compromise all youth groups across the country in order to stop them from exposing his act of corrupt practices.
“The time is now and President Muhammadu Buhari must act to save the NSCDCfrom Dr Ahmed Audi because the service has become a cesspool of corruption and maladministration.
“We as a organised forum (Unified Nigerian Youth Forum) has chosen not to compromise on it’s noble ideals and principles of fighting corruption and individuals who are derailing the Anti-corruption crusade of President Buhari led administration,” he said.
According to the UNYF’s boss, should Mr president fail to act now, it will not hesitate to carry out massive protests across the country, “if Buhari refuses to act by sacking Dr Ahmed Audi as the Commandant General of NSCDC.
“It should be on record for historical purposes that (UNYF) dissociate and disaffiliate itself from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) because it has become a willing tool and stooge for corrupt public office holders at the detriment of Nigerians and the current administration.”
