Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, Rivers state has scheduled the determination of the suit filed by the suspended national Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, for October 28, 2021.

Secondus in the appeal suit filed by his legal counsel, Payo Oyetubo and marked CA/PH/339, is seeking an order restraining the PDP from conducting its National Convention scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2021.

Meanwhile, during court hearing on Tuesday, six members of the PDP applied to be joined as co-defendants in the suit filed by Secondus.

Although Secondus’ legal counsel opposed the application, the three-man appeal panel led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani granted the rejoinder application and further granted them a 24-hour grace to respond to the lawsuit before the court.

Recall that the legal battle on the PDP’s national convention had begun on September 10, 2021, when a Federal High Court, Abuja while delivering on a suit marked PHC/2183/CS/2021 granted an order restraining Secondus from parading himself as the National Chairman of the PDP.

In another move, Secondus filed an appeal before the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt seeking an order of injunction restraining the PDP from holding the national convention pending the hearing and final determination of the appeal and also grant him the right to preside over the convention.
