The entire surrounding of the Nigeria Defence Academy {NDA} has been cordoned off by a combination of irate military and para-military personnel armed to the teeth as they launched manhunt for the bandits with a bid to rescue the kidnapped officers of the institution.

This is sequel to the suspicion that the heartless bandits have not been able to escape from the area.

It would be recalled that the bandits invaded the permanent site of the Nigerian Academy (NDA), Kaduna in the early hours of Tuesday 24th August 2021.

Sources informed that the bandits killed one officer, a Major and made away with three other officers.

According to source in the Academy, top officers and management of the institution were holding meeting over the incident as at the time of filing this report.

The source said “bandits in their large number attacked NDA Afaka and kidnapped 1 Offr; Maj Datong while Lt Cdr Wulah and Flt Lt CM Okoronwo were shot dead. 2Lt Onah sustained gunshot injury and currently receiving treatment.”

He added that “the bandits originally attempted to gain entry into the cadets hostels, but they were repelled and in the process killed the officer and abducted THREE others” informing that the “entire surrounding of the Academy has been cordoned off, as the military suspects the bandits have not been able to escape from the area.”

Thus therefore, the NDA Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira who confirmed the incident, however said two officers were killed and one was abducted during the attack.

Jajira in a press statement said, “the security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.”

Jajira however added that the Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to track them and rescue the abducted personnel.

“The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued,” he stressed.

NDA, the premier military university, that trains officers for the armed forces of Nigeria and some other African countries, is located on Kaduna-Lagos highway and about 10 kilometers away from the Kaduna city center.
