Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has mocked the proposal seeking to change Nigeria’s name to the United Africa Republic (UAR).

It would be recalled The New Diplomat had recently reported that the House of Representatives received a proposal demanding to change Nigeria’s name to the UAR.

It was part of the memoranda submitted during the just concluded zonal hearing for the ongoing amendment of the 1999 constitution. But the proposal has since generated hilarious comments amongst Nigerians.

Nigerian international, Ighalo reacting to this made reference to the fact that in UAE there is constant light but in Nigeria, they have to battle with epileptic power supply.

“There is no ‘Up NEPA!’ in the UAE.”I prefer it to UAR.”

Ighalo, who recently took his mum on a lavish vacation in Dubai, stated this on Monday via Instablog9ja.

It would be recalled that Ighalo secured a move to Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al Shabab in February 2021 following his loan expiration in Manchester United.
