Uduak Akpan, suspected killer of late female job seeker, Iniubong Umoren on Friday claimed he killed his victim in self-defence.

He spoke while being paraded by the Police at the State Command Headquarters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital. But his confession and the seeming VIP treatment given to him by police have triggered outrage on the social media once more.

Speaking with journalists, Akpan, who was paraded alongside his father did confess he killed Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy who went missing while attending a scam job interview he had syndicated.

Umoren was laid to rest in Uyo, Friday amid tears from family members, friends and a pack of mourners who paid their last respect to her.

Akpan said after Umoren had agreed to his job offer: “I told her that before she leaves, I would like to have sex with her and she agreed. But she gave a condition that I should use the condom which I did. While I removed the condom, she became furious and she took the nearby stabiliser to hit me on my head. And she hit my left finger and tried to reach for the door. So, while I was bleeding in a bid to stop her, I used the stabiliser to hit her, she started bleeding and that was how she died.”

After Akpan was quizzed further, he also claimed to have used pressing iron to hit Umoren as they were both engaged in a wrestle.

But angry reactions have accompanied his claims online:
