President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over a crucial security meeting with Service Chiefs at the State house in Abuja.
In attendance are the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and Defense Minister, Major-General Bashir Magashi (Rtd); and National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (Rtd).
Others present are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff; Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amoo.
The acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali is also in attendance.
The meeting is believed to discuss and find solutions to the most critical issue that has rocked Nigeria to its foundation — national security.
The meeting is coming at a time when insecurity in the country has been on the rise
It is expected that the service chiefs will update the President on the situation of the security of the nation.
The President had issued a directive as a first assignment to the Service Chiefs, before jetting out to United Kingdom on a routine medical check-up, in March. Buhari had ordered the security chiefs to frontally take the battle to the bandits and their sponsors, who are terrorising the country.
Recently, Buhari has been holding crucial security meeting with prominent individuals across the country.
Buhari had met with the Northern State Governors at the presidential villa, Abuja, on April 22.
On April 26, the President met with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State. Similarly, the President met with one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was accomplianed by former Governor of Osun State and former natiobal chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.
