Nigerians have penned emotional tributes for late veteran actor, Sadiq Daba, who died on Wednesday evening.
The New Diplomat had reported that the veteran actor took his exit after a long battle with leukemia and prostate cancer at the age of 69.
Daba, began his career as an actor in 1970, starring in the movie, ‘Cockcrow at Dawn’. Since his debut, he went on to feature in many movies among which are, October 1, where he played the role of ‘Inspector Waziri’; ‘Citation’, which was the last movie he featured in, and several other movies.
In 2015, Daba won the Best Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Award, for his role in October 1 movie.
Reacting to Daba’s demise, Atiku Abubakar, Former vice president of Nigeria, took to his official Twitter handle to mourn the veteran actor.
The former vice president prayed for the forgiveness of his sins.
He tweeted, “Sad that the cock will no longer crow at dawn. Sadiq Daba, thank you for the joy you brought into our homes. May your sins be forgiven, and your memories be a blessing.”
Also, Shehu Sani, former member of the Nigeria Senate, in his tribute, described the veteran actor as a professional presenter and actor.
Sani, took to his official Twitter handle to pray for the deceased and also the family of the deceased.
The tweet reads: “…He has been through a long journey of ace presenter and actor from a generation of morally upright Tv professionals.May Allah grant him Aljanna firdausi.Amin.”
Similarly, Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu said Daba fought a “gallant battle.”
He tweeted, “My very dear Brother, you fought a gallant battle. Good night and rest in peace. Veteran Actor, Sadiq Daba is Dead.”
Similarly, Nigerian actors took to their various social media accounts to pay tributes to the late thespian.
Saheed Balogun, Nollywood actor, took to his Instagram account to pay tribute to Late Daba.
In his words, “Goodnight Uncle Sadiq Daba. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”
Also, Joke Silva, a Nollywood actress, wrote, “Uncle Sadiq, you had a good run. I thank God that you worked till the end. Rest well dear friend. Rest well.”
Similarly, Kunle Afolayan, movie producer wrote, “You will be missed, Uncle S. You made your mark”.
