Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson might be facing up for 12 weeks on the sidelines after suffering a groin injury against Everton on Saturday.

The 30-year-old was substituted just half an hour into the Merseyside derby, with boss Jurgen Klopp admitting afterwards it “doesn’t look good”.

At best it looks like the midfielder has sustained a grade two tear to his adductor muscle, which would mean a period of at least six weeks out.

But there are fears it could take double that time to get Henderson back out on the field, with The Sun reporting he is now a doubt for Euro 2020 in the summer.

Jordan Henderson could be out for up to 12 weeks with his groin injury.

According to reports, Henderson is set to undergo a scan on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury and whether he will require surgery.

If he manages to avoid going under the knife, the Reds’ skipper may only miss a total of six matches for his club side, as well as the international break in March.

He could even be back in time for the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the beginning of April, should Liverpool manage to see through their 2-0 lead over RB Leipzig from the first leg.
