From Segun Amure, (The New Diplomat’s Abuja Bureau)
Nigeria-bound travellers who arrived the country through Ethiopian airlines on Saturday lamented their inability to check-in in line with the Covid-19 safety protocols of the country due to down time experienced by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) portal.
The travellers faulted the dysfunctional portal of the NCDC as it failed to capture data of the in-bound travellers, leaving them stranded at the airports.
They stressed that they couldn’t check in due to the inefficiencies of the managers of the NCDC portal – nitp.ncdc.gov.ng.
The experience was particularly dreadful for some Lagos and Abuja bound travellers who came via the Ethiopian Airlines which, in keeping with the protocol stipulated by the Nigerian authorities, refused to check in the passengers.
The NCDC portal suffers routine breakdown, and remains unresolved despite the embarrassment it causes Nigeria and Nigerians and the discomfort to visitors, investors and tourists coming into the country.
