Following the destruction of a house owned by the O’odua activist, Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise known as Igboho, Tuesday, the Oyo State Police Command has revealed that unidentified hoodlums who arrived the scene of the incident in a Hummer bus and a bike, were responsible for the arson.

The New Diplomat had earlier reported that Igboho’s house at Soka area of Ibadan, was razed in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Police command confirmed that some hoodlums were sighted at the scene of the attack before the house was razed down.

The Oyo State Police, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Gbenga Fadeyi, in a statement said the report received by the Command on the incident indicated that the house was burnt by hoodlums who invaded Soka area in a bus and a taxi, shooting sporadically to scare people away.

He said investigation into the fire incident has commenced.

The statement reads, “At about 6:20 am of today 26/01/2021, a report was received at the Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at Soka area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra (taxi) firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze. The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while the value of other properties has yet to be estimated. Immediately the DPO Sanyo got wind of the incident, he contacted fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessment. The fire was eventually put on. An investigation has commenced into the incident while the police are on the trail of the hoodlums.”

It would be recalled that Igboho’s house was destroyed in the early hours of Tuesday after a similar event had happened in Ibarapa where the house of the Fulani Leader, Salihu Abdukadir’s house was razed, following the arrival of Igboho in the town last week.
