Paris Saint German (PSG) boss, Mauricio Pochettino won his first trophy as a manager on Wednesday.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton boss guided PSG to a silverware victory after three matches in charge.
PSG saw off Marseille in the Trophee Des Champions on Wednesday night with goals from Mauro Icardi and Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior at the 39th and 85th minute respectively.
Dimitri Payet of Marseille also scored an injury-time consolation goal but wasn’t enough to win the trophy. Following the win on Wednesday, PSG has now won the trophy eight times.
While speaking to the press after the win, Pochettino promised more good things from his side.
He said: “After ten days as a coach, three matches played and this final against our biggest rival, it’s very important to win.”
Pochettino was appointed as the head coach of Tottenham in 2014/15 season. He however finished fifth in his first season at the club. In 2015/16 season, he managed Tottenham to their highest premier league finish, finishing third and consequently returning to the UEFA Champions League after 5 years of missing out of the competition.
Pochettino failed to win any trophy during his five years spell at the club.
However, his biggest achievements at the club remain the second placed finish in 2016/17 and the Champions league runner up in 2017/18.
Pochettino managed a total of 256 matches for Tottenham, and won 132 matches in the process.
