The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Bayo Onanuga, has said he is yet to receive the said letter the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi addressed to him.

Onanuga who took to his official X handle said though he was still waiting for the letter, he is ready to face any legal action.

He tweeted: “I am still waiting for the letter from Peter Obi’s lawyer threatening a N5 billion suit and demanding an apology to Peter Obi over the planned ‘revolution’.

“Let me just tell Obi and his lawyer: I am not afraid of any legal action. We shall meet in court.”

The New Diplomat reports that Obi’s counsel, Chief Alex Ejesieme, SAN, in a letter addressed to Onanuga had given him an ultimatum to retract his alleged defamatory statement, apologize publicly, and pay N5 billion in damages.

Obi, in the letter, claimed that Onanuga’s statement purportedly linking him to a planned mass protest is false and has damaged his reputation.

The legal team also demanded that the retraction, and apology be done in four national dailies (Vanguard, THISDAY, Punch, and The Cable).

It would be recalled that in a lengthy tweet published on Onanuga’s X account on Saturday, the senior presidential aide accused the supporters of Obi of being behind the proposed nationwide protest.

Onanuga alleged that the sponsors of the protests were not democrats but anarchists.

He said the planned protest is being organised by the supporters of Obi and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
