Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has cast his ballot in the ongoing crucial Anambra election.

However, the incumbent Governor, seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), alleged that there are incidents of vote buying across the state

He made this known after exercising his franchise at his polling unit in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists shortly after voting, Soludo expressed concern over the integrity of the process, stating that reports from the field indicated a worrying trend.

”The reports we are getting from the field are disappointing. We have received credible information about pervasive vote buying happening in different parts of the state,” Soludo stated. “This is a direct assault on our democracy and the genuine will of the Anambra people.”

Earlier in the day, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, and the party’s governorship candidate, George Moghalu, had also cast their votes. Both had raised concerns about widespread vote buying across various communities in the state, alleging that monetary inducements ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 naira were being offered to voters.
