Nigeria’s D’Banj, Davido, CKay, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks, and Mayorkun are among the selected artistes to perform at the ‘YouTube Africa Day Concert 2022.

The music and video streaming platform, YouTube, announced this.

This year’s concert has been slated for May 25 and would feature artistes from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, South Africa, and Congo.

The annual concert by YouTube is a musical homage to the continent, showcasing the vibrant African music stars making headlines worldwide.

Other artistes to perform there are: Sierra Leonean recording Drizilik; singer-songwriter and poet Busiswa Gqulu; singer and dancer Kamo Mpela, both from South Africa, will also grace the event.

Markets for YouTube EMEA, said; “YouTube as a platform has been a main line for connecting African artistes to people all around the world.”

“The Africa Day Concert is an opportunity to reaffirm YouTube’s support for African artists as they showcase the vibrant sounds and culture that makes Africa truly unique,” said Mr. Okosi.

“The highly anticipated concert will showcase musical performances that will be streamed to a global audience,” Mr. Okosi added.

Mr. Okosi explained that the concert would unite Africans, the diaspora, and people across the world to celebrate a continent that is home to over 1.5 billion people and is spawning new ways of artistic expression.
