The Zamfara State Government has confirmed the abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Jangebe in the Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of the state.

The New Diplomat had reported that bandits invaded the school, early Friday, abducting about 300 female students.

Reacting to the incident, Abubakar Dauran, Zamfara State Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, during a press conference in Gusau, confirmed the abduction of the female students.

Although, the commissioner failed to ascertain the number of the abducted female students, he however, assured that security men and members of vigilante groups in the state are already on the trail of the abductors.

In his words, “I can confirm to you now that we have sadly received the report on the abduction of the students of GGSS Jangebe and right now, I am on my way to the school. At this moment, l cannot say how many students were taken away by the gunmen until l get there, but we have already mobilized security men and members of the vigilantatè who are now in pursuit of the abductors.”
