Facts have emerged as to how top Nigerian businesswoman and Oil magnate, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija’s marriage to her husband of about 30 years, hit the rocks, triggering concerns across family friends and relations of the once united family.

This alleged marital disharmony between Folorunsho Alakija and her husband, Modupe Alakija was said to have began about six years ago but escalated in recent times, a development which reportedly prompted both husband and wife to opt for separation.
According to inside sources and friends of the Alakijas, efforts have been made in recent months to reconcile the lovely couples, but things seem to have fallen apart beyond what was anticipated!

The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that both husband and wife often allegedly have heated disagreements on subject matters that could have been amicably resolved if properly managed! For instance, sources said there was an incident at the Ikoyi Club Lagos, a few years back, which tended to cast a seeming picture of inappropriate action about one of them, which did not go down well with the other.

Media reports also suggest that Alakija, who is regarded as Nigeria’s richest woman with an Oil block to her credit, have had to contend with a series of arguments and counter arguments with her husband in recent times, prompting both sides to weigh options of separation.

According to a newspaper report, TheWill, these frequent disagreements made Modupe to pack out of the couple’s highbrow Ikoyi palatial home in Lagos.

The decision by Modupe to move out of the palatial home stemmed from what many family members said was necessitated by the billionaire Oil mogul and richest Nigerian woman’s request that she be allowed to have her maximum privacy.

The New Diplomat reports that Folorunsho Alakija is the founder of FAMFA Oil Limited, and has made a name for herself as a successful businesswoman, philanthropist, and minister of Christ. She is also the Vice Chairman of the Company while her husband was made to function as Chairman of the Board.

While it is not clear what might have aggravated the serving separation, but Alakija had said some years back that she accords her husband the utmost respect. According to her, she still watches her husband’s underwears, cloths, etc.
