Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy- Ohanenye, on Wednesday said President Bola Tinubu has been given a Herculean task of cleaning the Augean Stables.

Kennedy-Ohanenye appealed to Nigerians to be patients with Tinubu as he takes his time to fix the economy and other crucial sectors of the country.
She stressed that previous successive administrations had crrppled the country and bequeathed a mess to the president.

The minister made her appeal during an event where she distributed palliatives to the under-privileged in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Wednesday.

The palliatives included 5,000 bags of 10 kg rice, 300 gas cylinders, and 500 bags of 50 kg fertilizers.

“I plead with you to be patient with the president. He is doing everything to change the negative practices that have crippled the nation’s economy. Just give the president time; in the next few months, things will begin to improve. He needs time to clean up the mess left by previous administrations. Honestly, things were bad before President Tinubu took office, and he is working hard to bring happiness to Nigerians,” she stated.

The Minister noted that the Tinubu administration has planted numerous seeds that will take time to germinate and blossom to nurture Nigerians, hence the need for patience.

She said the social security initiatives is aimed at uplifting Nigerians, especially the poor.

She explained that the government asked individuals to submit their BVN so that the targeted beneficiaries will be reached and not the rich

“The BVN helps the government identify those who qualify for federal social security palliatives. The aid is meant for the poor, not the rich, who have cornered these resources over the years,” she added.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of Smart Gas, Mrs. Yinka Okpeke, stated that they decided to supply gas because the ministry’s mandate is to alleviate hardship for women.

“Our focus is to see how we can assist women who currently rely on firewood for cooking, and we are partnering with the Women’s Ministry to address this issue,” she said.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended her for her services to the nation.

He noted that Tinubu is making commendable efforts to reposition Nigeria and called on citizens to support him in transforming the country.
“Nigeria was in a mess before now, and the president is reengineering the whole process for the good of the citizens,” he stated.

Recall that Tinubu took the reins of power from Muhammadu Buhari on May 2023 after his predecessor had been at the helm for two consecutive tenures spanning eight years on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Tinubu was also elected on the platform of the same party.
