United States President Donald Trump has publicly expressed his frustration with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, signaling a potential rift between the two influential figures.
Speaking to reporters on June 5, 2025, Trump voiced his disappointment, stating: “I’m very disappointed in Elon, I helped him a lot.
“Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. I was surprised.
“I’m very disappointed, because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here… All of a sudden, he had a problem.”
The New Diplomat reports that this comes less than a week since Trump held a grand Oval Office farewell for Musk as he wrapped up his time leading the cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Recall also that Musk attacked Trump over what he described as a “big, beautiful bill” before the Senate.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” he said.
The outburst came days after Musk spearheaded the DOGE, which is tasked with cutting waste, excess, and fraud from federal expenditure.
