The Taraba State Governorship Election Tribunal on Saturday affirmed the victory of Agbu Kefas, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the duly elected governor of Taraba State.

The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Professor Sani Yahaya, candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for lack of merit.

It would be recalled that Prof. Yahaya in his petition claimed that the election was marred by massive rigging, violence, voter intimidation and malpractices.

He prayed the court to nullify the entire election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh exercise.

In the March 18 election, Agbu polled 302, 614 votes to defeat Yahaya, who scored 202, 277 votes.
