Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday, held a closed-door meeting with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

The meeting was convened following the three-month suspension handed to Senator Abdul Ningi over his allegation.

The New Diplomat had earlier reported that Senator Ningi, Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, alleged that N3.7 trillion in the 2024 budget is unaccounted for in terms of project implementation.

He later denied the allegation.

In response to his allegation, the Senate passed a resolution on Tuesday to suspend Ningi for three months.

While details of the meeting are still sketchy, it was understood to be related to the suspension of Ningi following his comments that President Tinubu is executing a different budget from the one he presented to the National Assembly last year.
