An unidentified group of persons suspected to be bandits on Thursday reportedly abducted about 50 persons in Bassa community of Shiroro Local Government area of Niger State, in North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria.

According to multiple accounts, in the early hours of Thursday, the suspected bandits allegedly came in motorcycles, attacked the community and kidnapped the locals.Suspected Bandits Seize Dozens of Persons In Niger, Leave Community In Shock!

While confirming the incident, Sabi Abubakar Kokki, who is the leader of Shiroro Youths, lamented the attack by the suspected bandits, who he described as terrorists.

According to him,  the bandits took advantage of the community inappropriate defence situation  to perpetrate their crime.

However, Kokki couldn’t confirm the number of bandits who attacked the community but stated that the attack is coming after some other communities in Bassa/Kokki area were attacked on Tuesday which led to lost of many lives.

Kokki also appealed for help in the Shiroro Local Government following the repeated cases of attacks by persons suspected to be bandits.

He pleaded with the  Niger State government to weigh in and help salvage the insecurity situation in the community.

It would be recalled that Shiroro, which is a Local Government Area in Niger State, Nigeria, has been a hotspot of attacks by persons suspected be bandits  in recent months.

Many attacks have been reported from the local government since early 2020.
