Nigerians were taken aback as the All Progressives Congress (APC) named a member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as part of its presidential campaign council.

In the list released on Friday, Hon. James Faleke, a PDP senator who represents Enugu East Senatorial District, Chimaroke Nnamani was included in the 422-member campaign council.

According to the list, Nnamani was listed as a member of the local government directorate.

While the development remains sketchy as of press time, The New Diplomat reports that Senator Chimaroke Nnamani had last month heaped praises on the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a strong politician. Though he had alot of good things to say about Tinubu, Nnamani however said he would vote for his own party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Also, it is unsure whether the ruling party made an error to include Nnamani as he shares the same surname with former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani.

The former Senate President who also hails from Enugu state is a member of the APC.

Efforts to reach the secretary of the APC campaign council, Faleke to comment on the development proved abortive as of press time.
