It was a black Tuesday in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State as six persons reportedly died on the spot when a truck collided with a Mercedes Benz.

The fatal auto crash which led to the death of three males and females each occurred near Akala park along Ogwashi Uku–Kwale road.

The remains of the victims who were said to be going to the local market have since been deposited at the General Hospital in Ogwashi-Uku.

The Delta State sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Ibrahim Abubakar confirmed the ghastly accident, noting that the ill-fated vehicles scattered in pieces and it was very difficult to identify the victims as a result of the impact of the collision.

He said: “We couldn’t find the number plates of the two vehicles, either people took them away or because of the impact we couldn’t just locate them.

“Two of the victims were trapped under the truck and it took our men a hectic time to push out the truck before we could bring them out dead.”

Abubakar pleaded with motorists especially those with bad eye sight to stop driving at night and at top speed.
