An American actor, Alec Baldwin has reportedly Killed a director of photography Halyna Hutchins on a movie set on Thursday in Mexico.
A movie director, Joel Souza, 48 was also injured in the incident that happened at approximately 1:50 p.m. local time.
CNN report noted that Hutchins, 42 was killed through discharged of a prop firearm by the Actor on the set of the movie “Rust.”
The victim was transported to the hospital via helicopter and pronounced dead by medical personnel at University of New Mexico Hospital, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
It was not immediately known how serious Souza’s injuries were.
Director Joel Souza, 48, was transported to Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center by ambulance for care. Details on his condition were not released.
“According to investigators it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged.
“Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged,” the report says.
Email requests for comment sent to the film’s production company and a representative for Baldwin were not immediately returned, CNN disclosed.
“The investigation remains open and active and no charges have been filed,” The Sheriff’s Office said.
“Rust” is said to be a Western film set in the 1880s that stars Baldwin, Travis Fimmel and Jensen Ackles.
Baldwin, 68, recently said the impersonating former U.S. President Donald Trump on NBC’s comedy sketch show “Saturday Night Live,” made him more famous.
Baldwin has a long history in film and television, including roles in “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “30 Rock.”
The late Hutchins from Ukraine, who had worked as an investigative reporter in Europe graduated from the American Film Institute in 2015 and was selected as one of American Cinematographer’s Rising Stars of 2019, according to her website biography.
