Notwithstanding his indictment over the near genocide, occasioned by the daily reported killings, allegedly orchestrated by suspected herdsmen in some communities, the Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma has urged those he identified as “unknown gunmen” as being responsible for the massacre to sheath their sword and embrace peace.

Uzodinma who made this declaration in his Easter message to his people, noted that no meaningful development would take place in an environment of crisis.

He enjoined those behind the dastardly act to desist as his administration has perfected plans to deal ruthlessly with perpetrators fueling the embers of crisis in the state.

The Governor who reiterated his administration preparedness to provide adequate security for inhabitants in the state irrespective of their religious or political affiliations, stated that security would continue to remain as topmost priority in the agenda of his government.

Against this backdrop, Uzodinma who stated that most of the killings were politically motivated, cautions the youth in the state against being used to unleashed mayhem on unsuspecting Imolites going about their daily business.

In the same vein, he warned politicians whose only preoccupation at the moment was to sponsor violence in the state in order to score cheap political point. Adding that his administration would deal decisively with anyone caught in the act.
