The Senate on Thursday approved the appointment of 15 Resident Electoral Commissiners.
The confirmation of the 15 RECs follow the consideration of report of the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented by the committee chairman Senator Suleiman Nazif (Bauchi North).
Nazif said the committee have screened 15 nominee out of the 27 name forwarded to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari. He added that members of the committee were satisfied with the qualification of the nominee.
Nazif further stated that the name of 12 other nominee will subsequently be forwarded to the Senate for approval.
In his reaction, the Senate President Bukola Saraki congratulate the nominee and wish them successful tenure.
He hope that they will improve on the gains in the electoral process.
