Preparatory to checkmate all unforseen circumstances surrounding the forthcoming general elections that is barely four weeks away, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Alkali Baba has announced the deployment of two new Police commissioners to Ogun and Lagos states respectively.
This was contained in a letter by the IGP to the chairman, police service commission.
Baba, who gave the names of the affected officers as Frank Mba and Idowu Owohunwa, would be serving in Lagos and Ogun and would be replacing Abiodu Alabi and Lanre Bankole.
The IGP expressed optimism that the new commissioners would help to strengthen the strategic and operational control of both Lagos and Ogun states where elections in the past have been reported to be characterized by violence.
The IGP disclosed that Mba, who was former commissioner of Police in charge of the Border patrol force, force headquarters, would be serving in Ogun as the state police commissioner.
Until his recent appointment, Mba who hails from Udenu local government area of Enugu state, was former police public relations officer of the Lagos command, a position he maintained at the force headquarters before his elevation to the post of commissioner. He is a Master degree holder in Law.
His contemporary, Owohunwa, prior to his appointment, was the principal staff officer to the IGP and holds a Master degree in Criminal justice studies and policing from the University of Leeds, United kingdom. He is the new commissioner of Police in Lagos state.
