The embattled chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has denied claims that he met with the River State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

Ayu who made this refutal while reacting to a viral photo of him and Gov. Wike circulating in the media space, said he never traveled to Port Harcourt.

Ayu’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Simon Imobo-Tswam in Abuja on Wednesday, said the speculation was the handiwork of mischief-makers.

Imobo Tswam said, “Dr. Ayu states clearly that he never travelled to Port Harcourt and he has not set eyes on Governor Wike lately.

“The photograph trending on the social media is an old one. The story accompanying it, was fabricated, and the purpose for the act was indeed mischievous,” the spokesman said.

Against this back drop, “Imobo Tswam urged the general public and the PDP family to ignore the story, but rather focus on the historic task ahead of the party next month.

It would be recalled that the battle between the two political gladiators escalated when four other governors that made up the 5-G supported Wike’s persistent calls for Ayu’s removal as Chairman of the party over N1bn bribery allegations.

After series of meeting held in France, UK, the 5-G governors made up of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, have all declared support for Tinubu while Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, declared support for Peter Obi.
