  • Calls on Deltans to rise up to say No

The choice of Sir. Monday John Onyeme, Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) as running mate to Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, PDP Governorship candidate and Speaker of the state assembly has been described as a dubious strategic master plan perfected by Gov Okowa and the State PDP to divert the State internally-generated revenue to finance the PDP presidential and governorship campaign in the 2023 election.

The Director of Communications and Media Strategy, Delta State APC Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation,
Ima Niboro, stated this while reacting to the announcement of the nomination of the State chairman, Monday Onyeme, as the running mate of the State PDP Guber candidate, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to Niboro, the nomination of the executive chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue as the governorship running mate to the PDP governorship candidate, was a clear confirmation that the governor has perfected plans to rob hapless Deltans to financially prosecute his vice president campaign as well as the State governorship candidate.

Ima Niboro also accused Governor Okowa of embarking on a frantic and almost reckless fund-raising drive to create a huge financial war chest for PDP for the purpose of prosecuting the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

“The choice of Onyeme who controls the entire Internally Generated Revenue of the state, much of which is unaccounted for, is a further confirmation that a heist is coming, if it hasn’t been executed already.

“Instead of going for persons who can give Deltans a sense of direction, they went for somebody whose hand is deep in government coffers, and in the process confirmed to the rest of the country that their intention is to plunder the state to fund both Atiku and Oborewvori’s elections.

“We urge all Deltans to be vigilant. We call on whistle blowers to rise to the challenge. A state that cannot pay pensioners cannot fund a presidential election that is leading nowhere. It cannot fund gubernatorial elections with loans procured through political incest between the Executive and Legislative branches of the state.

“Their planned perfidy must not stand. All Deltans must rise up as one to say no to this wickedness,” he said.

It would be recalled that the PDP in Delta State had announced Sir Monday John Onyeme, Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) as running mate to Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, PDP Governorship candidate and Speaker of the state assembly.
