The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Obong Nsima Ekere, has said the Peoples Democratic Party would lose power in Akwa Ibom State because the people are disconnected from the state government.

He said this was due to the negligence and insensitivity of Governor Udom Emmanuel to security matters and infrastructure decay in the state.

Ekere, who is the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, stated these while speaking with journalists at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

He said the case of insecurity was one of the incidences of failure in governance in the state.

He said, “The number one responsibility of government is the security of lives. Akwa Ibom is usually a very peaceful state but l can tell you that today, in three local government areas in the state, the people are not able to sleep at night.

“They have been overtaken by cultists and there is a lot of insecurity and yet, the governor is scoring himself 100 per cent in security. So, you can see that the people of the state have totally lost confidence in this government.”

Ekere said the governor had also displayed gross incompetence in handling state assets inherited from previous administrations while it had also not been able to build new ones
