The former Barcelona Football Club Icon, Lionel Messi has finalized an agreement with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) over a transfer.

Lionel Messi has agreed to join the French club on a two-year contract worth £25m a year after tax according to report.

He is expected to fly to France to seal the deal, which includes an option to extend it by a year.

Messi, his lawyers and his father, Jorge, have been in talks with PSG since Thursday.

Messi, who had spent his entire career at Barcelona, broke down in tears at a press conference where he formally announced his exit, noting that he was not prepared to leave the club where he had spent 21 years.

Messi was said to be looking forward to signing a new five-year deal when the club announced that things had changed owing to “financial and structural obstacles”.

Messi, a 34-year-old record goalscorer for both Argentina and FC Barcelona, is one of the greatest players of all time.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner, wept on Sunday as he bade farewell to his boyhood team, after the club said it could no longer afford to keep him, due to La Liga’s fair play rules.
