Late Peter John Claudius Aderuije Thomas, popularly referred to as ‘Lagos Big Boy’ made history by becoming the first African and Nigerian to be appointed as Head Boy of any British public school.

Thomas, who was raised in Lagos-Nigeria later migrated to England, where he attended Taunton School located in Taunton, Somerset County.

In 1962, Thomas was appointed as the Head Boy of the Wills East House of the Taunton School.

Taunton School operates both boarding and day-school. The houses at the boarding school includes; Fairwater; Wills East; Will’s West; Weirfield; Woodyer; Evans; Bevan; Goodlandb Besley; Marshall; Jekin; and Foxcombe.

Born in 1943, Thomas passed away in 2009. He was survived by his wife Juliana and three children; Rhodes, Kessiana and Georgin.

His remains was interred at the Vaults and Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
