According to the residents, “Two suspected female suicide bombers detonated the bombs that exploded at the grains section of Madagali market Friday morning and killed dozens of people.

The actual casualty figures could not be immediately ascertained as security and volunteers were evacuating dead bodies and the injured to hospitals in Mubi and Gulak.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Madagali Local Government, Yusuf Muhammad called on federal government to deploy soldiers to the surrounding areas where he said Boko Haram insurgents set up camps.

He described the attack as a setback to relative peace enjoyed by residents who resumed normal commercial and social activities following successful military operations.
