A vocal human rights lawyer, Barr. Inibehe Effiong who was incarcerated for 30 days over alleged contempt of court by the Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot has been released from the Uyo Correctional Facility at about 8:50 am on Friday.
Inibehe immediately addressed a crowd of supporters at Barracks Road by Brooks street expressing his appreciation to family, his legal team, Femi Falana, NBA, CSOs and the media.
Mr Inibehe said: “he is beaming with fire, to fight for the common people of this country. And no oppressor can quench this fire”.
He further narrated what was said to have transpired in the courtroom as lies against his person and the law profession. “I never at any time pointed my hand at the honourable judge. I never at any time banged on the table. I never at any time shouted at the court.”
Inibehe said these accusations only came to his notice while he was incarcerated.
He challenged the judge to release the CCTV camera to the public.
Meanwhile, Inibehe has released 17 innocent inmates. Some of them were said to be on bail.
When asked if he was molested and whether his beared was forcefully shaved, Inibehe assured he will address the issue at an approximate time.
