Mr Jimi Agbaje has emerged the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the 2019 governorship election in Lagos State. Agbaje was elected Friday by party delegates who gathered from the 245 Wards across the state in an exercise that started on Thursday afternoon.

The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, Victor Oyofo, while announcing the result, said Jimi Agbaje scored a total of one thousand, one hundred (1,100) votes to defeat his rival Adedeji Doherty, who scored a total of seven hundred and forty two (742) votes. Oyofo commended the contestants for their maturity and spirit of sportsmanship displayed during the exercise.

With the victory, Agbaje will now contest against the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Babajide Sanwoolu and candidates from other parties in the governorship election that comes up on March 2nd, 2019.

Agbaje contested on the platform of the PDP and lost to the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode during the 2015 contest.
